Adverse Possession

Sometimes referred to as ‘squatters rights’, adverse possession is the process by which someone who resides on or is in occupation of another person’s land obtains the title and legal ownership of that land.

Certain conditions must be met for an adverse possession claim to be successful e.g., you must have occupied the land for a sufficient length of time and to the exclusion of any other third parties.

This is a complex area of property law, and the criteria is different for registered and unregistered land, but whatever the circumstances, we can assist you with the process.
